For almost 30 years Mike has represented small, medium and multi-national clients in a variety of business transactions, including business acquisitions and sales, formation and liquidation of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, shareholder buy-sell agreements, employment agreements, franchise and distribution agreements and other business contracts. He also has extensive experience assisting companies locating new facilities and expanding existing facilities in Kentucky in negotiating state and local incentive packages and implementing state and local tax credit based incentive program and industrial revenue bond financing. From 1995-99, Mike served as a member of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Industrial Revenue Bond Review Committee, which reviews applications for industrial revenue bond financing in Fayette County.

Mike began his career as a certified public accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) in their Lexington and San Francisco offices. He then attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1982. Mike began his legal career with Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, where he practiced for almost 12 years, including 5 years as a partner in the Lexington corporate department. He formed the Slone & Benton PSC in 1994 with the goal of providing "large firm" quality legal representation in a low overhead environment and passing the cost savings on to the client.
